Bet

The second letter of the Hebrew alphabet is called “Bet”, and makes the "b" sound like boy. The bet has a numerical value of two, and replaces the number 2 (two) throughout the Torah and Tanakh subheadings.

Vet

The dot inside the bet is a dagesh. When the dot is removed, the "bet" becomes the "vet" and makes the "v" sound, like victory.

The dagesh is found in other letters. In most cases, the dagesh does not change the sound. But, the bet is one of three letters that changes with the addition of the dagesh.
